HEY ♥ So as most of you know already, I'm Annay, one of your moddydoddies. QNNG [personal profile] yosuke is the FAAAAAAAAAAR more adept one but between the two of us, we'll keep everyting in line. ANYWAY, to kind of ease ourselves into this whole thing, I think it'd be super to kind of get a feel for what we all like to read. So I've concocted a meme with this handy little form, which you can definitely fill out and...etc. etc. you get the point. All of the rules still apply so make sure you read them before doing anything nasty, otherwise we'll...get you. ...Despite the fact that we're not threatening at all.

OKAY, LET'S HAVE SOME FUN ♥

Oh, and a pimp code if you want!

HI I'M... Lorelei.
FAVORITE BOOK(S) | Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities, Haruki Murakami's Kafka on the Shore, Robin McKinley's Rose Daughter, Diana Wynne Jones' Howl's Moving Castle, Edna Ferber's Giant
FAVORITE AUTHOR(S) | F. Scott Fitzgerald, Francesca Lia Block, Cynthia Voight, Franz Kafka, Garcia Marquez, uhh do Machiavelli, Poe, and Shakespeare count? :x
ETC. | I'm so ADD with my Shelfari and stuff ... I may register another one and start over, but it's kind of the same reason I neglect my MAL -- I've just read too much stuff to list.

I don't like everything he's written (Great Expectations makes me want to kick things) but I like his work overall, I guess. xD

SO ... LAZY ....

He's really more of a poet than an author, I think. XD I'm not sure Kafka really counts, either.

That's true, haha. xDD ...but I think he's awesome enough to count, lol.
I've never read any of Kafka's work before. o: Is there anything you would recommend?

You should read Metamorphosis. It's a short story and pretty easy to find online. :0

So much love for Diana Wynne Jones and Robin McKinley❤
Also this has reminded me that I totally forgot to add Shakespeare to my list D:
Do you have a particular favorite of his works?

I'm a huge fan of Shakespeare in general, haha. I've read almost all of his plays. My favorite is still Twelfth Night, though Much Ado About Nothing is also pretty good.

Twelfth Night is so fantastic (and also love for Much Ado About Nothing) ❤
I still have a huge soft spot for Julius Caesar though that tends to compete with Twelfth Night for my top favorite spot.

fjkajf;jkadsj;f sorry orz.

it is... pretty good... I guess I was kinda too harsh orz. the symbolism is really interesting! I actually kinda liked... the white/black contrasts that were kinda prevalent throughout the novel.... plus the bits on imperialism were interesting! my fav character was marlow's aunt hahaha.

why did you like it??

Hmm, I'm not really sure! I liked the whole idea, I guess. Kurtz was this guy who was supposed to be this cultured, amazing genius and yet he was so corrupted by the wilderness and did all this insane stuff just so he could stay there, even while dying. "The horror! The horror!" There are a lot of lines that randomly stick out for me, too, with imagery about the river and stuff. Obviously I've never been to the Congo, but it was so vivid in my head that I felt like I was there, almost.

I haven't read it in a while, though, so a lot of the finer details are a little fuzzy for me. |D

I've always loved that about her writing, too. And her books always make me feel like I'm in a fairy tale, since the settings she writes about are near the area where I live. *////*
