[personal profile] theory posting in [community profile] fables
Since several people have expressed their interest in a monthly book club, I think this would definitely be the best time to start!

✏ Suggestion posts will be made in the first week of every month. Members will then be able to make suggestions on books they'd like to read.
✏ Friday evening, a poll will be posted with all of the suggestions made and members can vote for the book they'd like to read the most.
✏ The most popular book will be announced on Sunday, and the official discussion post will be posted a week after that for those who are fast readers.
✏ This cycle will repeat itself in the first week of the new month.
✏ If you also want to read a book that's already been listed, please respond to that thread instead of making a new comment. This is to ensure that all nominations get added.

QUESTIONS OF THE MONTH:
✏ Should there be themes so that we don't get the same genre over and over? Or would it be better if we did a perpetual free-for-all?
✏ Should the person who suggested the winning novel be delegated to write a review upon completion?

i'm all for reading murakami, especially wind-up bird, but i think may is a horrible month to read a 600 page book with finals and the end of the school year and whatnot. i'd like to extend my vote to hard boiled wonderland, though. :9

I'd love to have a Murakami theme. I've been meaning to sit down and seriously read his novels. So far I've only read excerpts from The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and Sputnik Sweetheart, and I like what I see. It' be really fun to read and discuss his books with other people.

I'm all for either of these ♥
I've been reading to read Murakami and this would be the perfect reason to sit and devote some time to that.

I think that as long as the book chosen is chosen based on a popular vote, it doesn't matter if we get the same genre over and over. :3 At least we'd be reading a book that most everyone wants to read! I'm all for the Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, but I'm not that picky, so I'd be cool with whatever, really.

I think we should have a free-for-all for the most part and do themes every so often for a few months at a time, so we can read like several sci-fi books in a row or something.

Speaking of sci-fi, I suggest anything Asimov or Vonnegut.

May is also a busy month for some of us, so if we decided to choose something short, I highly recommend Daddy Long Legs. It's short, sweet and ends on a happy note.

Or we can have a nostalgia month where we read our favorite middle school books?

Themes sound good. Or just rotate the genres. Perpetual free-for-all doesn't seem too bad, but I don't think I'd be happy to have the same genre all the time.

As for writing a review, that sounds good. But I'd also like to see, maybe having quotes taken from the discussions. Like, pick and choose ones that would best describe the books and not just the review.
