[personal profile] theory posting in [community profile] fables
book addicts anonymous.

So until the reviews start trickling in, every couple of days there'll be a fun/time-consuming activity for us to all partake in. Any suggestions can go on the rules post! Okay, so tonight's activity goes as follows: all of us have our little literary guilty pleasures/weak spots that we harbor but can never say in person to just anyone. Maybe you like a series that is generally frowned upon in the literary world. Maybe you've been trying to write a certain scene in your own novel but you're not sure if it's good enough. Whatever the case, BOOK ADDICTS ANONYMOUS is here to help. All posts should be anonymous and just about anything goes (within the rules, of course). Ready to let loose? READY, SET, GO!

I have to admit I want to join in on the mockery... and to look down on it for my own reasons and not just based on hearsay.

Mostly, though, the mocking.

I read Twilight on the suggestion of a friend (who I now believe is crazy for enjoying it so much). It's a train-wreck, a poor excuse for literature, and much more entertaining when read MST3K style (this is especially true of Breaking Dawn). And I have to admit, I jumped for joy when I read SMeyer's whining about not wanting to write Midnight Sun after it's unauthorized release online.

I love girly books. Cocktails for Three, PREP, Shopaholics, Devil Wears Prada. I love them, and I need them to spice up my life in between serious/satirical/heavy thinking books, because, seriously, sometimes I just like to giggle and smirk and dream of some fantastical romance.

When I was in school, I couldn't stand half of the books that were required for reading. They were never remotely interesting, and I never read them. Thank goodness for the internet, as almost all my sources and writings were helped by descriptions from about.com - Oh the days before wikipedia!

Now, I appreciate classics, but I still hate the books they suggested.

I went to China last year. I know I should have bought Chinese books in the chinese book store.. but I saw Nicholas Sparks and Nights in Rodanthe (or whatever the spelling is gg), and I bought it all at once.

I am such a sap for romance books. :i

I'm actually vaguely interested in reading the rest of the Inheritance Trilogy out of some sort of morbid curiosity or something, I don't know. It's fun in an oh god why am I reading this way.

I'm just too lazy to actually do it.
