bookwormmeme

HEY ♥ So as most of you know already, I'm Annay, one of your moddydoddies. QNNG [personal profile] yosuke is the FAAAAAAAAAAR more adept one but between the two of us, we'll keep everyting in line. ANYWAY, to kind of ease ourselves into this whole thing, I think it'd be super to kind of get a feel for what we all like to read. So I've concocted a meme with this handy little form, which you can definitely fill out and...etc. etc. you get the point. All of the rules still apply so make sure you read them before doing anything nasty, otherwise we'll...get you. ...Despite the fact that we're not threatening at all.

OKAY, LET'S HAVE SOME FUN ♥

Oh, and a pimp code if you want!

The Fuck Up ... Well, isn't that an interesting title, lol.
Do you mind me asking what it's about? :o

Sure thing :) It's set in modern day New York and it's about a twenty-something slacker who works at a movie theater. As the title would read, he's basically a fuck-up: in the beginning of the book one bad thing after another happens (loses job/gf, etc). But as the book goes on, he works his way back up by being shady/hilarious.

The author himself has written better books, but this is my personal favorite because of the storytelling. It was pretty bold when it first came out♥

Oh my, I remember reading Candy and feeling so depressed after that. D:

I think it's because it reminds me of NANA;; lol. Depressing love story revolving around a band? WHY NOT.

It's my favorite book in the entire world - probably because it does all those things X3 It's one of the only books to ever make me cry.

I need to read more Dickens... We never read much of his in school, but I've loved what I have read.
Any recommendations of which to tackle first?

My personal favorite is David Copperfield : ) However, if you read Oliver Twist, I could talk you into watching the musical version (Oliver!) which is really charming...♥

Okay okay, yes. Copperfield first. Just a warning: Dickens' books are super long and wordy, b/c he was paid by word count;;

I loved Oliver Twist so I'll definitely have to watch the musical ❤
Awesome, thanks for the rec. I'll add that to my library list for next week.

I KEEP MEANING TO GET THE FUCK UP, but I'm so afraid it's a hyped up book with just a weird premise.

To be honest, it probably is. But the best way to satisfy your curiosity is to read it anyway! XD

I liked Dogrun too! :) It was interesting to read things from the view of a female protag, even if I didn't find it as engaging as FuckUp. I bought Suicide Casanova, but I haven't been able to get too far into it yet...

i have suicide casanova, unlubircated AND chinese takeout, all of which i haven't read.

SC i tried to read like a bunch of years back and failed at it so badly. it wasn't as engaging..
